STEPS TO ARRANGING A CATHOLIC MARRIAGE AT ST BERNARDINE’S PARISH

Catholic priests have a limited licence from the Federal Government and the Catholic Bishops to celebrate some marriages (but not all).

A meeting should be arranged so that it can be ascertained if this can be a Catholic marriage.


Specified time for Notification to the Priest of intended marriage
  • Catholic Church: Six months (at least)
  • Australian Government: One month


    • Documents Required

    Catholic Church:                                                 
    .  Baptismal Certificate (new copy within last six months if possible)
    .  Confirmation Certificate (if available)
    .  Certification of completion of marriage preparation

    Australian Government:  
    .  Full Birth Certificate (not extract)  OR
    .  Passport (if person has one).



    Costs:       
  • Presider: from $200.00

* Flowers are the responsibility of couples and are to be mutually arranged between the couple and the priest.
